My Family: A New Addition

I’ve talked about my family on this blog several times, like when my son Isaiah turned two, almost a year ago now, on Mother’s Day. And even a post a year and a week ago exactly. All of them have strongly featured my absolutely wonderful son Isaiah, who fills my life with adventure, sword fighting, running, laughing, crying, and everything in between. One thing my wife, Crystal, and I have always wanted was another child to give Isaiah someone to play with and to share life with. After all, I grew up with two brothers (one older and one younger) and they are among my best friends to this day. How could I deny such a privilege to my own son?

Coeur d’Alene Engagement: Ben & Kayleen

When going into this engagement photo shoot, I did not really know Ben or Kayleen. We have mutual friends, many different connections from different sources, and I left knowing there was no doubt, had we met on the street somewhere, we would be friends. The other thing I knew, no question, was how much these two love each other. They laughed readily and were ready for anything. I can’t wait for their wedding this summer in Spokane at Arbor Crest!

The Why Series: All-Day Coverage

This is the second part of an ongoing series called “The Why Series.” This is where I explain why I include certain things in my wedding packages, and why it’s so important. If you’d like to read the first installment, “Why Two Photographers?” check it out here.

Every wedding package I have includes all-day coverage. That is literal, by the way. Why the clarification, you ask? Well, the vast majority of wedding photographers who include “all-day coverage” write it this way: “All-day coverage!* — *Up to 8 hours,” or “*Up to 10 hours.” I’m not sure about you, but I’m often awake longer than eight hours in a day, and just as often, a wedding day lasts longer than eight or ten hours. So what exactly do you miss with only eight or ten hours of coverage? Well, that’s exactly what I’m going to answer, and that answer is the reason why every single wedding package I include is an all-day deal, literally.

Coeur d’Alene Engagement: Bryan & Tina

Love is a funny thing. It takes two people and smashes them together to create a beautiful, unique, and amazing compilation. Each story is different. Some factors may be similar, such as how Bryan and Tina first met — through mutual friends at Rathdrum Days. However, I would say the impression that lasts came a little later when Bryan, knowing Tina for the extraordinary length of several hours, threw her into the lake. They would hang out again the next day, and a week later they would go on their official first date. The rest is history, as the saying goes, and I had the privilege of hanging out with these two, hearing their story, and talking about their upcoming big day, June 7. It was cold, wet, and an absolute blast.

The Why Series: Two Photographers

I’m starting a new periodic series called “The Why Series.” In this series I will explain why I do the things I do, why certain things are included in my wedding photography packages, and why they matter. In creating each package, I weigh and measure each element’s value and priority. In the first installment of the series, I want to talk about second photographers, what their benefits are, and why they can be so important.
