I had the chance to meet Matt several years ago when I was doing some headshots for his work. One thing that became clear to me very quickly - Matt’s a kind man. He has always treated me kindly, each and every time I've run into him (which has been quite a bit now that the years have started stacking). So when he asked me to come out and photograph his family, I was excited. Not only getting to know him better, but his family was a real pleasure, and they were all so easy to talk to, helpful, and quick to laugh. I had a great time with them all, and I'm so excited that I get the chance to share some of their family photos.
I’m not a morning person, but that does’t mean mornings aren’t magical. And that was reinforced to me when I woke up at 3:30am to drive out and meet the Srikureja family for some absolutely amazing family photos near their home in Spokane. The whole family was so kind, and it was awesome to be able to get to know more of them the day before I saw them all at a wedding the next day. We had a blast, and I'm so happy with how it all turned out.
The first time I met the Collins family was when I met them for their shoot. Visiting from out of town (on one of the busiest weekends this whole summer) they were immediately kind, easy to talk to, and had lots of personality (Looking at you Roy!) I had a blast with them, and I'm so excited to share some highlights form their family shoot.
It is hard for me to over state how much I enjoy the Odeh family. Being able to be there for their engagement photos, wedding photos, maternity photos, and family photos as this family has grown into a family of five is absolutely amazing. There is something special about these people that makes being with them, watching them laugh, and watching their family grow that is such an incredible privilege. The thing that struck me this spring evening was just how much they remembered about my life.
I’ve known Rory for a couple of years now through our time volunteering at New Day summer camp. It’s one of those weeks where the energy is high and the connections are real. We actually bonded over our shared love for morning runs—heading out before the camp day fully kicked off, sometimes with a group of students in tow and sometimes just to catch a quiet mile.
Being able to photograph families is one of my favorite things. Watching them interact, watching them laugh, joke, and get along really shows me a lot of what a family is about. The Galloway family is special. They clearly get along, but even more clearly love each other. I had a blast capturing them and their interactions, but also seeing them again (as I had the chance to photograph Derek and Stephanie’s wedding a couple of years ago).. Hope you love the photos from this late winter family shoot!
I met Roger and Ashley for the first time when we went to get some photos. They are expecting their first child (which is amazing!) and it was a lot of fun talking to them about their growing family, but even how they met. They were so kind, thoughtful, and easy to talk to - not to mention photograph! I’m so excited for them and their growing, soon to be family of three!
Last year I had the chance to do Eric and Magda’s engagement photos and wedding photos. So when Eric called me up this year and asked if I wanted to take some photos of their family (now featuring the beautiful little dog!) I was 100% on board. These are two people I have always enjoyed talking to, from the first time we met at the coffee shop to the very end of their wedding day - they have just been great people. So I hope you love some of these family photos! They are just a couple highlights.
Words can’t really sum up what I want to put into this blog. If you’ve had me photograph your wedding, there is a high chance you’ve met one part of this family (aka, Brent Billings). You would know he’s easy to talk to, kind, thoughtful, and considerate. You would know he’s smart, and has your best interest at heart. What you wouldn’t know immediately is that he has an incredible wife, and two beautiful and energetic boys. Not to mention a puppy (Maple) that has maybe more energy than she knows what to do with. The thing is, photos can capture only a small portion of who this family is and what they represent to me. But being able to share them here is such a privilege. I hope you love them!
I’m not actually not sure how long it has been since I met Julie and Doug for the first time. But I do remember the shoot, in Manito park as they announced their pregnancy for their first child, Rosalie. I remember the fall colors, their dogs (their only “children” at the time, and how kind and easy to get along with they were. Over the years I've had a huge privilege of watching their family grow, in good and bad times, and being able to capture the smiles and memories that come along with it. So adding another year to that history isn’t just a small thing, it becomes bigger and bigger each year they ask me. And I love the fact I get to share these photos here first. I hope you love them!
I still remember the day I met Jake and Allie. We were at a wedding, and they were the best man and maid of honor. They were kind, so, so helpful, and were part of an amazing group of friends. I remember even getting a chance to talk theology with them at the wedding (something I love to talk about). It was years later I had the chance to take photos of them and their growing family, and I believe this may be the third time now! It’s such a huge compliment, and I absolutely love seeing them every time they have me come out to take their photos. Those boys are growing, and growing fast! Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.
It was several years ago now that I had the chance to meet the Wagstaff family. At that wedding, they were kind, beautiful and such a beautiful family. Several years later I had the chance to do their family photos, and every year since then. What has struck me over the years is just how kind, thoughtful and amazing this family really is. Not just in their interactions with me, but in how their kids interact with me, with each other, and their parents. There is a true joy here, and I love being able to capture it. Here are some of my favorites from this years family photos with the Wagstaffs.
It’s crazy to me to think that Gabe and Mary’s wedding was a couple of YEARS ago, which just blows my mind. Their wedding was amazing for so many reasons, but to be contacted later and asked to photograph their growing family was such a huge compliment. Being able to be there for the engagement, wedding, and then watch a family grow? Man. It was so great to see them and their absolutely beautiful daughter. But now I have the chance to share these family photos! I hope you all love them as much as I loved taking them.
Last year I had the chance to meet Jacob and Fong at Jacob’s sisters wedding (Shout out to Hunter and Becca!) and I really enjoyed speaking with them. Well, really, I enjoyed speaking with the whole family. They were kind and easy to talk to. So when Jacob reached out to me this year and asked if I could do some family photos for him and his beautiful family of three, I was excited. Not only are they gorgeous people, but they are so easy to get along with too. This particular shoot was a lot of fun, and i’m excited to share.
I had the chance to meet the Prager family’s men when they were on a guys trip to Red Horse Mountain Ranch in Harrison, Idaho. It was a blast. Not only is the location absolutely stunning, with mountains, horses, and a beautiful situation, but the guys themselves were super kind and easy to talk to. I had a blast getting some great photos of them, and I loved how interactive the horses were! Even if they literally stood in the way at times.
I only had the chance to meet a couple of the Dorame family members before our shoot, so getting to meet their whole family of four was a huge privilege. They were so easy to get along with, quick to smile and so photogenic. What a privilege being able to get some great photos of this beautiful family.
I only had the chance to meet the Hocker family the day we did their family shoot. We got lucky with no rain, and semi-warm weather. It was beautiful. That said, I had an absolute blast getting to know this family of five, more if you count grandma and gramps and the beautiful girlfriend who also came along. We had a lot of fun, with some great personality, and i’m excited to be able to share them with you.
It’s not very often you get to have a FIVE-generation photo, but I had the chance to capture that when I did the family photos for my wife’s side of the family. So if you see myself, my boys, and my beautiful wife in some of these pictures, it’s because we were there! That also means this family has grown very dear to my heart, and I love each one of these people so much. It’s also crazy, looking at the size of the family, thinking that a whole family wasn’t able to make it (Crystal’s sister) as they live down in Florida. That said, we couldn’t have asked for a better day, with great color and no rain; it ended up turning out great. Here are some of my favorites.
Man! This is the third family shoot in a row that I can say I’ve had the chance to see this family grow. And it was a compliment when I talked about it last week, and it’s still a compliment this week. MAN is it good to see Jordan and Bailey again, but it’s also so great seeing their growing family (five now!). I loved seeing them again, but even more so, all the smiles and joy this family of five has is so great. I love how these turned out, and I’m so excited that I can share them with you.
The more I talk with the Griswold family, the more i’m convinced that we would be friends if we all had more time in life. The reason is simple, this family is awesome. They are kind, easy to talk to, quick to laugh, and have great taste. Their kids are beautiful, and look like mini versions of them. So being able to meet with them and. capture this beautiful family is a huge honor, and being able to share some of my favorites is as well.
For the last several years i’ve had the chance to watching the Kernodle family grow. It remains one of my absolute favorite things about being a photographer, watching a family grow, seeing the kids change year over year, the catching up with the parents, and watching - even if briefly - it all come together. This is the fourth time i’ve had the huge privilege of capturing this now family of four, and I love the smiles we got this year. Excited to share!
I know I talk about this a lot, but I do that because it’s true. The compliment of being able to see the same family every year is immense. The idea that you can take someone’s photo, capture them, and they come back a year later and say “hey, you did such a great job capturing the most valuable thing in life, we want you to do it again.” humbles me. This is even more true with Kevin and Alex and their beautiful family, as i’ve had the chance to be there from their engagement, to the pregnancy announcements and now to their beautiful family of five. In addition to that, getting to meet even more people in their family this time was huge, and so so great. I’m very excited to share these ones from our big family shoot out in the fields.
Being able to see the German-Murry family again this October was an absolute privilege. They are always so kind, thoughtful and so easy to talk to. Being able to photograph them since before they had any kids, and watching their beautiful family grow has been one of the highlights for me as a photographer. It is with that that I am so excited to be able to share these family photos of this beautiful, kind, growing family.
A couple of years ago I had the chance to meet this incredible family (at the time, just Jake and Allie) at a wedding. They were kind and so helpful. Then a couple of years went by and they had a beautiful baby boy, and were expecting a second when I had the chance to see them again for some family photos, which I absolutely love how they turned out. So getting to see them again this year, capture their growing and beautiful family again was an absolute privilege, never mind even the great company and conversation we had after the shoot. Here are some of my favorites of this beautiful growing family.
A couple of years ago I had the chance to photograph the wedding of some pretty awesome people (Shout out to Michael and Malinda!), and while I was there I met these amazing people. Granted, they didn’t have their little one there yet, but this beautiful family of four stood out to me. I was able to take a photo of them at the wedding, and I didn’t hear from them for a couple of years until last year when Allison reached out to me to do their family photos. I love how they turned out, and so when they asked me to do it again, it was a huge compliment. So today I get to share some of my favorites from our recent family shoot together!
Getting to meet the Godfrey’s for their family photos was a privilege. I really enjoyed getting to know them, watching their boys play, and attempting to get their beautiful daughter to smile - and smile she did. Granted, what you don’t see is all the tears she also shed, but that smile man - so worth it. What a beautiful and kind family. Love how these turned out!
I really love doing family photos, but historically the one family that is by far the hardest to photograph is my own. Not only because I have to be in some, but because people tend to have absolutely no problem complaining to other family members. That said, this one went really smoothly - which was awesome. I just wish I could have had my whole family there (missing my younger brother and his family). That said, these people are some of the most important in my life, and I am excited to share these with you all.
There are some incredible ties between my past and my present with this family. My oldest son shares a class with one of these amazing kids, I used to go to school with one of these amazing moms, and I am friends with - even if we don’t’ get to spend much time together - with one of these amazing families. Not to mention getting to play basketball against one of these excellent fathers. In the end, when they reached out and asked me to do their family photos again, I was very excited. This is one incredible, beautiful, kind family - and it shows. So here are a couple of my favorites, but there is no doubt that this was a highlight family photo shoot for me this year.
Loved getting to know the Edmiston family late last month in their family photos! So great to meet some people from out of town, and get some great family photos of them. These are some of my favorites.
The first chance I had to meet the Reilley family was when we met on the beach in Coeur d’Alene. From the first moment they were a joy to speak to and so easy to photograph. They were quick to laugh, and a group that was just fun to get to know. I’m excited that we also had quite possibly one of the best days to do the family shoot, and i’m excited I get to be the one to share some of these with you!
