Alex & Allison's Engagement at the Family Cabin

They met in class about five years ago. In both of their cases, neither one really stood out much - kind of. Allison was unique because she was a rare girl in a program filled with guys. Alex knew her from the semester before (because they had a class together) but Allison never even recognized him until they were put into a research group together. Alex told me he just figured she had a boyfriend (which was true) and so never really thought much of pursuing Allison.

For Allison's part, Alex was just another guy in a program filled with guys. So when they got matched together for their project, it was just the way things went. This was true from months. But over time Allison would become single, and the two would need to talk a lot for school. They would end up doing a lot of class work together. But for Alex, things really shifted when they met up once to talk about the project, and ended up just talking for a couple hours NOT about the project. Allison told me that it was a problem, because she "really did need the help" but she just liked talking to him too much.

Their relationship would grow, they would become closer and closer friends, and eventually would find themselves going to the same place on spring break (although they didn't plan the trips together). While there though, they would end up spending time together, instead of with their friends (save one friend, who came along "as long as he could be the third wheel" - in other words, he told Alex to "make a move"). Turns out, this friend would end up actually being the third wheel, and didn't have a great time of it at that.

But such is the sacrifice of a good friend, and in the end, that's what he was. Because now Alex and Allison are getting married! And soon! I'm so excited to get to be there for their wedding, meet their friends, and watch these two say "I want you and no other"
