Carson and Ali's Rainy December Engagement
Technically, they met in middle school - although neither of them really remembers it. If we want to start talking about when their friendship actually started to grow, it would be around their sophomore year of high school. They would have history and math together and would often sit near each other. They would talk and have fun. Ali remembers this time because Carson caught her eye - she thought he was cute.
Carson, for his part, never noticed. From the way they told the story, I get the impression he was completely oblivious to Ali's interest - even when they started flirting. And Carson does admit - by the time they hit their junior year, he was definitely flirting with Ali. Which of course frustrated her, because from her perspective, he was giving all the signals yet making none of the moves.
Around this time, COVID would become a thing, and the schools would get shut down. Carson and Ali would end up going on a hike together (just them). I told Carson that a hike sounded a LOT like a date, but it wasn't. In fact, he wasn't even aware it could look like that (although Ali was very aware). It was after this, Ali would text him and tell him that she liked him.
It was in this moment, Carson would realize a couple of things. One, that Ali liked him (he truly had no idea) and two, he didn't like her. So he told her he didn't have any interest, and they stopped talking - for about a year. This was actually one of the most surprising points in their story, as I figured they would have continued being friends - but no. Anyway, eventually, Carson would realize how great a friend Ali was, and he would reach out and ask if they could be friends again. And friends they were! They would hang out once, and then every day after that for about three or four weeks, then finally start dating.
Now they are getting married, and I get to be there to capture it all! I had a blast with both of these wonderful people doing their engagement shoot, even though it rained on us basically the entire time. They are kind, thoughtful, and so easy to talk to. I'm excited to meet their friends and family and see these two get married!
