They first met because of a roommate. Dan and Lisa were invited to join some friends in a escape room, and on the way to pick everyone up, Dan decided he needed to get a pumpkin (you know, for a house warming gift - because, why wouldn’t you?) Looking out from the window Lisa told me she saw Dan and her first thoughts were "oh man, he's actually really cute" but that was a problem, because she wasn't read - at all. So according to her, she went and hid in the kitchen.
Read MoreTytus and Ali met in high school. I think technically they said they went to elementary school together, but they didn't know each other. But in high school, Tytus found Ali on social media and decided to send her a message. They would talk for a while, but eventually he convinced her to go on a date. It was a movie (which they cannot remember) and dinner (Pizza). Ali told me the thing that stood out to her the most was running across the freeway (to the pizza place) and how much pizza Tytus ate (aka, a lot).
Read MoreThey met at work. In fact, John trained Kelly when she first started working there. At the time, she got his attention right away, and not just because she was beautiful - but because she was "intimidating". He told me that she seems to have a strength with her he didn’t' see very often, an intelligence, and a peace about her. Kelly, for her part also vividly remembers meeting John, and she told me that he was a "rare gentleman". So one thing is clear, from the beginning, these two stood out to each other. The problem John initially had was that they never worked together, always passing each other in the hall, but he never really got to talk to her again.
Read MoreJosh and Solina have an energy about them. It’s something that is translated so well during our engagement shoot. They were easy to talk to, quick to laugh, and game for anything (even if the drop was terrifying Solina). Getting to know them was a joy, learning how they met (online) and how Josh didn’t let their first date be at a (good) but not-nice-enough place like a Mexican restaurant really impressed Solina.
Read MoreSo often during engagement shoots we get to talking and I get to hear how a couple met. This isn't uncommon - look at almost any other engagement blog. This, however, isn't what always happens. In this case, with the temperature outside being 11 degrees and the snow coming down in droves, the topic of how Peter and Calli met never came up. It was mostly "here's your coat back" and "brush the snow off your head" and "oh my gosh this is insane!" type talk. For two people who drove up here from Houston, they handled the temperature and weather so well, and were game for anything. Engagement shoots in the snow like this are simultaneously beautiful and absolutely hard to do, as being comfortable, looking happy, and enjoying what you're doing (or at least looking like it) is extremely hard. Needless to say, I had an awesome time with these two, and while I can't share their story, we certainly have an experience we can share together.
Read MoreThey met on Tinder. I asked Skyler why he swiped right on Kristin's profile and he looked and me and said "To be honest, I swiped right on EVERYONE's profile" - and his logic was very reasonable - why bother looking if you don't match anyway? He figured, see who he matches with, THEN look to see if there was anyone there he was interested in. Kristin was much more thoughtful, and she really liked how Skyler had a great photo of him featured and not one of him with a bunch of friends.
