CDA Engagement Photography: Joe & Nicole
If we really want to get technical, Joe and Nicole have known each other for a long time. They went to the same middle school and high school - but they really didn't know each other. It was more of a "I know that person exists" kind of thing.
So if we really look forward, it wasn't until they were in college that they started to get to know each other - more specifically because two of their friends became friends. So when they would come home and their friends would have a party or get together, they were in the same room. Now, you'd think that's where the friendship started, but that would be wrong. In fact, both of them didn't talk at all, as they kind of had a "oh, they think they're too good for me" kind of thought toward the other.
No, the real change came when Joe had a fourth of July party and he invited all his friends. Those friends then invited Nicole, who was like "oh, it's at joe's house? Ugh". That said, when she showed up, Joe was being quite friendly (he was a couple drinks in) and they proceeded to talk most of the night. I asked Nicole what she thought of that, but she said she thought he was "just being Joe" because he "flirts with everyone". That said, it WAS that night that Joe realized he liked Nicole more than just knowing she existed.
It happened toward the end of the night, after several drinks and a lot of flirting. Joe was sitting in the car waiting for McDonalds to get their act together when he asked if anyone had water. Nicole said she had some, but she warned him that if he drank from it he would fall in love with her - he drank the whole thing.
"I wanted to be sure" he said. He told me that was the moment he realized he liked her. That said, Nicole was the next day, after Joe was still flirtatious even the next day, she realized she really liked him too, and it would take them only a couple days to go on their first date (where they would talk for over two hours).
You hear the saying "when you know you know" said often, and it feels like it belongs here. I loved getting to know these two, hearing their story, and just watching them interact and laugh with each other. Their wedding at the Coeur d'Alene Resort next year is going to be absolutely incredible, and I am so excited for it!
