Joel and Alyssa's Engagement on Tubbs Hill

Joel and Alyssa met at work. They were working in Buffalo New York, although neither of them were from there. Alyssa came from Michigan, and Joel had flown in from Colorado. Both were there to do some type of construction job (both are engineers), so when Alyssa showed up that day with her bright orange vest on, she wasn't really thinking she was going to meet the man she was going to marry.

Joel also didn't think so, but he did notice her. In his own words, it was awesome they had someone who was pretty with them, as it wasn't a very common sight at their job. So while Alyssa stood out to Joel, Joel was just another dude for Alyssa - at least to start.

As the days went on (they were at the job site for a couple weeks), Alyssa realized that there was really only one person at that job site she was really enjoying spending time with - Joel. Neither of them had relationships on their mind, and neither of them would even start something - or try to start something - on the trip. What did happen though, was a friendship was formed.

They would talk back and forth sometimes after returning home, but nothing would really happen until Alyssa would get transferred out to Colorado - where Joel happened to be. They both agree, Alyssa did not move out to Colorado FOR Joel, but "it was nice" knowing that there was at least someone out there that was cool (according to Alyssa). Once she moved out there, they would hang out more, and more, and then even more. Alyssa would realize that she just enjoyed having Joel around. That said, they STILL didn't really make any moves. That said, Joel would realize first between the two that Alyssa wasn't just a friend to him, that he wanted it to be more.

Alyssa, would take several months after Joel made his feelings clear to realize that he was someone she also really liked. And so, on Valentines day of 2019, she would make him a bunch of chocolate covered strawberries, and they would make their relationship official. Now, almost five years later, they are getting married! I'm so excited to be with them in October to share their wedding at the beautiful Settlers Creek.
