Josh and Nikki's North Idaho Engagement

They met on Match.com. Just like so many couples these days, they met online (I would say about 75% of my couples met online in some form), and they hit it off. Both Josh and Nikki told me that their earlier chatting online and over text felt real - it wasn't superficial. It seemed like both of them actually cared, and wanted to have something real. This moved things forward. The problem? They lived roughly 8 hours apart.

Yeah, not close. Not sure what Match.com was thinking (although, it seems like they were right in this case). Either way, after about a month of chatting, they decided to meet. Josh told me "we were either going to meet, or it was going to fizzle out. You can't just text forever" - which is so true.

So Josh would take the drive - either to meet a girl and hit it off with her, or to spend a weekend alone exploring - he didn't know which one yet. But when he first walked up to the brewery, he was like "please make this trip worth it."

Initially, things didn't go super well, as they had talked so much over text, all the things they wanted to say had already been said. "we sat in silence for about 10 minutes when we first met" Nikki told me, but then the ice broke, and they talked into the night. The next day, Nikki introduced her dog to Josh (a big move) and instead of disliking him (her dog hates guys that wear hats, and Josh needs to wear hats and glasses a lot) they became instant friends. This was a big moment. Pivotal, really.

It would only be a month later that Josh and Nikki would make their relationship official (at the very beginning of COVID) and it was then that Josh knew this could easily be more than just a small thing. He was right. Now, these two are getting married! And I'm so excited to be there to celebrate with them! It will be absolutely beautiful.
