North Idaho Engagement: Cody & Lauryn's Lake Engagement
Technically Cody and Lauryn met in junior high. They even "dated" then. Cody had his hair like Justin Bieber which Lauryn really liked, but when he cut it - it was over for her. They broke up, which Cody was not very happy about. Just like with any junior high relationship, they moved on, each of them would continue going to school together, but have different boy friends and girlfriends. This was true all the way up to their senior year when Cody and Lauryn would be voted as the two people with the "coolest trucks".
Now, to be clear, they had continued to go to school together, and were around each other often, but they weren't really friends. And even this wasn’t really going to change much, as they still hadn't talked much and now they had to go get their photo taken together. But, a couple days before that photo, Lauryn would roll her truck in an accident.
Cody, being the kind guy that he is, reached out to her after that to make sure she was ok. For Lauryn, this changed things for her, it took her from "oh he's a nice guy" to "oh man, he's so sweet" and very quickly changed her feelings about him. Things were similar for Cody, who only a couple days after would ask Lauryn - his old friend - for some advice; "how should I break up with my girlfriend"?
The thing is, Lauryn gave him some great advice, but his girlfriend found out anyway and so all that sage advice went out the window, and he would break up with her during their senior year. That meant that there was an empty seat next to Cody in class, and Lauryn - after waiting a couple weeks - decided she would just take that seat. It wasn't long after that that they would start to like each other, date, and eventually, get engaged.
It's always crazy to me to hear how people who met so long ago can develop that relationship over time, and it was so awesome to see these two laughing and smiling while they told me about their story. What an amazing couple, and I'm so excited to be at their wedding this September!
