Coeur d'Alene Engagement Photographer: Joe & Alison

He was Maverick. He didn't really plan it, but he figured "hey, why not, I'll go to this Halloween party". What he didn't know was that Allison had spent all last summer binge watching a movie she had never seen before - Top Gun. So when she saw him come in with his leather jacket and aviators, she knew exactly who he was.

They had only seen each other a couple other times before. The first time, Joe was on his way to class, three books in hand, a backpack full of more books and his glasses on he waved to one of his friends (whom Allison was with) and Allison said "wow, what a nerd" (even though they were both in the engineering program). The next time she would notice him, he would be Maverick.

Their night went really well, Joe remembers Allison as the "super quite" girl that never really talked, but that night was different. She came right over and started talking with him, and they spent all night together. From sitting on the porch to Joe walking her home (and even lending her his favorite pair of sweats because it was cold) they had an amazing time. He remembers the one thing he came out of that night with "wow, this girl is awesome". They had exchanged phone numbers, and would talk over the course of the next three weeks (she had his sweats still, after all). They would see each other again when Allison got back from a volleyball trip and headed to a party Joe was at, although right when she got there he was like "hey, we're leaving, want to come?". She liked him, so she did. That night they spent time hanging out in the park, looking at the stars.

What seems so obvious to me is how these two work together. They so obviously love each other. When we did their engagement photos, Joe was just so happy to see Allison, he told me several times "I forgot we were even doing photos!" but the thing is, they were just smiling, laughing, and just loving on each other. They are magnetic with the way they interact and smile - you know you just want to be there. When I met them last year at Marcus and Lauren’s wedding (Marcus is Joe’s brother) I got to know them a little, but It was so amazing getting to know them more, and I can't wait to be there for their wedding later this year.
