Winter Engagement with Matt and Olivia

They met in elementary school. They weren't really friends, even though they went to a small school (think class sizes of 45, instead of 400). So they knew each other existed, but never talked. This was true until around Olivia's 7th grade year, when Matt started noticing her, and he decided to try and pursue her - something his cousin had been doing very unsuccessfully for a while. He would get her number, and they would start to talk. It wasn't a long time (but also notably, not a short time) before they would start to like each other.

I asked Olivia when she started liking Matt, and she said "it was basically right away" but she felt like she was too young to really "date" anyone, so they would remain friends. Eventually though, they would start to date, and they would continue to date through high school, then college, and then one day they would travel all the way out to Coeur d'Alene Idaho for a work conference, and on a rock overlooking Coeur d'Alene Lake, Matt would get down on one knee and ask Olivia to not just be with him today and tomorrow, but for forever. What an honor it was for me to be able to be there for this moment. Such a kind couple (all the way from New York state), and I absolutely loved hearing their story, and getting to be there for such an amazing time in their lives.
