Coeur d'Alene Engagement Photographer: Adam & Courtney
They first met because of friends. A way of meeting people that is extraordinarily rare these days. Either way, these two met and were part of the same friend group. They would hang out with a bunch of their other friends maybe two or three times a month. They were friends as friends in groups are. Spending a lot of time together but not necessarily super close.
Interest wasn't really shared either, as for a good while these two were both dating someone else. But those relationships didn't last and Adam would continually be catching her eye. In truth, Adam had always caught Courtney's eye - one of the first things she thought when she saw him (when she was single) was how good looking he was - but for the first time there was a chance things could work out.
On Adam side, he had more recently broken up his previous relationship and was less aware of those around him - "Up in Space" was the direct quote if I remember correctly. Either way, these two would still be hanging out on a regular basis, and Courtney would start to catch Adam's eye. And so one night while they were hanging out, Courtney asked him if he wanted to hang out a little longer after the group was starting to go home. They would talk, and realize that over the last couple weeks or months they had both been liking each other - they just never knew it.
This would fast track some things, and Adam who had not wanted to say anything (remember, the space thing?) would tell Courtney in that moment, before they had even started to date, that he loved her.
I asked Courtney what she thought of that in the moment, and she said it was something along the lines of "What the F*** - This is going WAY to fast" - although she didn't say that. Either way, it may have been scary, but what is absolutely true is that they found a way to make it work, and started to date. They would be dating for a while when Courtney and her family would decide to move up to the Pacific Northwest. Not wanting Adam to feel like he needed to do anything, Courtney had made up her mind. She would break up with him.
Yeah. Needless to say Adam wasn't pumped about that and he told her she wasn't aloud to do that, and he moved up to the area anyway. Sounds like a movie yeah? I thought so too. Anyway, I can't say it went the way I would have expected, because about 10 days later they would break up, for real.
Yeah. So when I first heard that I thought that it would be like a couple day thing and they would both come back to their senses but no. They broke up for around SEVEN MONTHS. Yeah. And for a good four of those months they were living in the same home. Tough times. Regardless, about seven months in Courtney realized that Adam was in fact the man she always wanted. She was comparing every guy she met to Adam, and realized why have anything other than the guy she truly wanted.
They would get back together, and now, they are getting married! It's going to be beautiful (up at the beautiful Talus Rock, in Sandpoint) and I am so excited to be there for their wedding. What an awesome couple, and such a unique story.
