Downtown Spokane Engagement: Taylor & Jenna
They met when Taylor connected with Jenna's roommate on a dating app. They were messaging back and forth, and eventually he was invited over - they lived close by after all. Well, it turns out that Jenna is a pretty colorful person, as that was Taylor's first impression of her. He said he remembered her coming into the room as they were all talking and the whole place lit up - "it went up about 30 octaves" is what Jenna said. This doesn't surprise me, as the time I've spent with her she has been so much fun to be with, talk with, and it doesn't surprise me that Taylor would describe it this way.
Now, so many stories have the two love birds connecting in ways like this, and Taylor would find Jenna to be someone he liked much more than the girl on the dating app, but in this case that didn't happen. Surprised? I was too.
Turns out, they hung out, they had a good time, and that was it. Taylor never really ended up dating her roommate, but he also never ended up dating Jenna - at least right away. Instead, they would become friends - good friends. I asked each of them if the "good friends" was just because one of them didn't want to commit, but they both said they were legit just friends. Now, you probably wouldn't have guessed that in the moment, as many of their friends and family thought they were dating, or at least were asking the "when are you guys going to actually date?!" question.
For Jenna, it was on a ski trip that they took with some friends that she started to think about it. "Why does EVERYONE think we're dating!? He is kind of cute…" it was on this trip that her perception of Taylor shifted from "we're buddies" to "I want to be more". The thing is, it didn't for Taylor. Jenna pointed out that Taylor is sometimes a little slow to catch on, but in this case she was also working a lot, so the month and a half it took him to realize Jenna was more than just a friend was not because he missed a bunch of hits, it was more because he didn't get to see her much.
That said, it all came down to a night with friends - and a little bit of alcohol - and Taylor found himself holding and hugging Jenna in a more flirtatious ways (something Jenna was like "oh… ok, finally!") It was this party that they would both find interest (although they wouldn't start dating officially until a little while later still) and the friendship they had built over the months prier would lead to a strong healthy relationship. Now that has turned into "I want to be with you forever" and these two are getting married! I absolutely loved spending time with Taylor and Jenna, getting to know them, and I'm so excited to spend more time with them. In the mean time, I hope you love their engagement photos!
