Spokane Engagement Photographer: Steve & Taunya
They met as so many couple do these days - online. Steve was the first one to send a message, he told me that Taunya's profile (a very long, well written, direct profile) was one that he really liked, but it was the picture of Taunya with one of her best friends kids that really got him. He loves kids, and was looking for someone that also loved them.
Neither of them really remembered what was sent in that first message, except that it "wasn’t creepy" and was "very respectful". Something that can't be said for most of the messages Taunya received. Anyway, they took it slow and messaged back and forth for nearly two months before making the first phone call, easily a make or break moment. I know Steve was very worried Taunya's voice would be something he found annoying, and Tanya didn't know what to think about how talkative Steve would be.
Turns out (and I'm sure you're shocked) it went extremely well. They got along great and sharing a conversation was something they would do often for the next couple months. No date, no face to face, just talking on the phone. This would change when they decided to go on their very first date - bowling.
Bowling can be a great first date, it's very casual, there are moments where you are not expected to talk (time to think about what you want to say, or where you want to go with the conversation), there are cheering moments, moments to make fun, and moments to flirt. Turns out, Taunya is also much better at bowling than Steve, so they found apple opportunity to banter, to dish it out - and to take it. It was things like this that made Steve realize that Taunya was someone special.
Life would move on, and these two became great friend, and some 5 months after that first date they were looking at rings, they were talking about how they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Taunya told me that when she wrote out that 2 page, single spaced, document for her profile she did so because she wanted to only talk to people who were serious, who really wanted to have a relationship. They found each other, and now they are coming together to say to their friend, family, and the world that they love each other, that they want no one else. I can't wait to be there for there for their wedding at Settlers Creek.
