Sunny Winter Engagement with John and Kelly
They met at work. In fact, John trained Kelly when she first started working there. At the time, she got his attention right away, and not just because she was beautiful - but because she was "intimidating". He told me that she seems to have a strength with her he didn’t' see very often, an intelligence, and a peace about her. Kelly, for her part also vividly remembers meeting John, and she told me that he was a "rare gentleman". So one thing is clear, from the beginning, these two stood out to each other. The problem John initially had was that they never worked together, always passing each other in the hall, but he never really got to talk to her again.
Things started to change a bit when John was no longer taking a leader roll at work, and Kelly got his number to ask him to cover one of her shifts. A very normal thing to text a co-worker, but this text ended up not ending, and they would continue to chat back and forth even though they weren't working. This all lead to multiple conversations at work, little notes John would leave behind for Kelly (they were all appropriately work-themed - but if you looked closely you'd notice he ONLY left the notes for Kelly and no one else) and a continued pursuit on his part. He told me he was trying really hard to find a way to talk to her outside of work.
Enter medical school. He had recently just gotten accepted to med school and Kelly was thinking of applying. He told her they should "go out to coffee so I can look over your application and give you some help". This wasn't untrue, but his motivations were certainly greater than a simple "let me help you". Turns out, she took him up on it. What is now called (at least, I call it this) the "coffee date" - which wasn't a date, although in hind sight it certainly was a date, these two hit it off. They talked about her application "for about an hour or so" is what John said, only to be swiftly corrected by Kelly to "it was maybe 10 minutes". But they stated at the coffee place and talked for about two hours. Either way, these two belonged together. And it was this moment, this day, that was a huge beginning point for them and their relationship. They wouldn’t' start officially dating yet (that would be later, after what I call the "wine date") but things were absolutely headed that direction. But now, after long distance, short distance, dates and "not dates", these two are getting married. They are kind, quick to laugh, and so easily fit together. I'm so excited to be there in Portland for their New Years Eve wedding, and am so happy I get to share these engagement photos with you right now!
