Coeur d'Alene Engagement: Michael & Malinda
They met in high school, freshman year. The thing about both Michael and Malinda that I found out during our shoot is they are both driven - they both work hard and are prepared people. What does this have to do with freshman year of high school? It means Malinda was taking 9 classes to everyone’s regular 8. It also means she had a huge pile of books in her hands as she walked to class. Michael, being the kind guy he is - and also thinking Malinda was pretty darn cute - asked her if she needed help. What a better way to start talking to the cute girl in class than to start out by being a gentleman?
So he asked, and Malinda, being as distraught as she was, looked at him and said “Nope! I’m good.”
Not how Michael really wanted it to go. That said, we need to fast forward a bit to (I THINK) Junior year (it could also have been senior year. Forgive me on this detail). Over time these two had gotten to know each other a little (they were part of a class of 50 something) but were never really super close. Until the play. You see, Malinda is a pretty amazing singer, but she’s also great at acting. She was the female lead in the play that year and Michael got the part of Narrator - something he was extraordinarily good at. What did this also mean? It meant they were on the stage together the whole time. They did lines together all the time. They got to know each other - respect each other.
It may be common in situations like this for people to get together, but it wasn’t actually the play that put Michael over the edge - that put him on Malinda’s map. It was something else (or should I say someone else?)
You can thank Mark Zuckerberg.
Yes, in a very real way Mark Zuckerberg helped get these two together. How? Well, one day Michael texted Malinda two words (MARK ZUCKERBERG). Malinda, looking at the text thought “he’s playing with me… but ok, I’ll bite” so she went for it. After that, they texted all the time, meme’s, funny quotes, etc. They become friends. Then The Sade Hawkins dance came around, and Malinda asked Michael. It wasn’t long after that they were together, and now, almost 5 years later, they are getting married. What an awesome couple they are, and how much fun I had with them. I can’t wait to share some more photos of them at their wedding.
