Coeur d'Alene Photographer: Robbie & Cassie's Engagement

The first time they met was at a bar, but for Cassie, Robbie didn't leave that strong of an impression. For Robbie however, he was immediately quite interested in his roommates friend, and so began to plan (along with his roommates) how he may be able to see her again. Enter softball - he was the organizer of the team and his roommates convinced Cassie to come play with their team.

You see, I said the impression wasn't strong and I meant it, because when they met again Cassie hadn't known her and Robbie had previously met - little did she know Robbie was pulling all the strings in the background to try and make sure this wasn't the last time.

Over the course of the softball season they would interact a little - but not a lot. Cassie told me that her first really strong impression of Robbie was when they met at the bar before the game, and he was the only one there at the time. She was struck by him, his kind smile, and she thought "na, it won't work, I'm moving" - because she was. Cassie had decided to quit her job, leave the softball team, and move to Leavenworth to bartend for the summer. And how can you blame her? Not only is it beautiful out there, but think of all those amazing hikes and mountains in the area.

Either way, this wasn't good for Robbie's plans, and so he was now back to the stage of "how can I hang out with this girl?" It turns out, a couple months later one of his friends was getting married and it was out in Wenatchee, so Robbie texted Cassie (he got her number because of the softball team) and asked if she wanted to go. She didn't. And she also didn't go.

Yeah, not what I expected either.

Cassie told me that she didn't know the bride (although she knew the maid of honor and others at the wedding) and so she didn't want to go. But this was notable because it was in this moment that Cassie would realize that Robbie was interested in her.

The next attempt Robbie made was having his roommate invite Cassie to come out on the boat with them and a bunch of other friends when she came back into town. This day is the day that they finally got the chance to talk, spend time together, and get to know each other a little more. It was on this day, that Cassie and Robbie really started to become what they are today. Over the next couple months and years, their relationship would grow, they would travel, they would say "I love you" (Cassie doing so first) and move from friends, to two people who are ready to be with each other for the rest of their lives. To two people who are getting married, and I am so excited to be a part of it!
