Coeur d'Alene Engagement Photographer: Chris & Michelle

In short, Chris and Michelle met because they both swiped right. Chris was in the military, Michelle was just starting out as a lawyer, and both were trying online dating. Chris was about to give up when he found Michelle on Tinder, and he sent her a Parks and Rec quote. He told me he had tried it before (and it didn’t' work) but it was cleaver enough he was convinced he should try again.

It worked. Michelle (who recently had watched Parks and Rec) got it, loved the humor, and replied back with a similar quote. They would chat for a couple days before going on their first date; coffee in the morning.

Michelle knew the "perfect place" which was a coffee shop next to her apartment complex, Chris drove roughly 45 minutes to meet her there in the morning for a thirty minute talk (of which Chris talked entirely too much). It's hard to say it went well because Michelle came out of it thinking Chris didn't really like her (after all, he didn't ask her many questions) but they both had high hopes. So they setup a second date at an Italian place in Seattle. This was almost the opposite experience, where Michelle talked much more and Chris much less (Chris said he though he talked too much the first time and tried to correct for the second date).

The second date ended up going well, but also wasn't a huge hit, with both people knowing there was something off. That said, they both were still really hopeful, they really wanted things to go well (which is why they hadn't gone super well the first two times) and it was the third date that Chris decided to go all out, with a helicopter tour and cocktails at a super nice bar, the third date was a huge hit for both of them. Conversation flowed, and they were both clearly into each other. This started their relationship, that was filled with work, long distance, weekend only times of seeing each other and everything else.

Then a huge blessing came - Covid. As things shut down, it allowed Chris and Michelle to just spend some real time together. Talking, walking, and hanging out. It was during this time that they both really started to see that this relationship was going to be so much more than something casual, that they could in fact get married, and if they did, it would be amazing.

What an incredible couple these two are. So easy to talk to, quick to laugh, great smiles - I genuinely had so much fun with them on this super windy, cold, early spring evening. Chris and Michelle are infectious in their personalities, and it was so easy to spend time with them. I'm so excited to share their wedding day, and capture the amazing moments that happen when they get married this year at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane.
