Engagement Photographer: Rob & Cheyene Get Engaged!

This blog is a little different when it comes to my photo selection. You see, normally I try to keep each photo distinct, but in this case, half way through the shoot Rob got down on one knee and proposed to Cheyene. She had no idea it was coming. It was an incredible moment, and because of that i’ve had the hardest time in the world figuring out which photo to keep in, or not. That said, I hope you enjoy it. It was amazing.

They met in school. Both of them were training to be radiology tech's, and Rob saw a beautiful girl sitting in the class with an open seat next to her. So, being the charismatic, kind guy he is, he went and sat next to her. I asked him why he sat next to her, if it was because he thought she was cute or not, and he said "psh, absolutely!" - Rob had his eye on Shianne from day one.

So you'd think they would strike up a conversation, and become buddies in class, and that friendship would then lead to them dating. That isn't what happened. Instead, Shianne looked at Rob, stood up, and walked to a different part of the class and sat down.

I asked her why she did that, as that is a bold "leave me alone" statement, and she said it was because Rob was "too cute". She knew that if she sat next to him, she wouldn't be able to focus on anything else in class.

Rob, however, didn't know the reason she left was because he had a chance, rather, he took it as a clear "leave me alone" message. So he did, for several months until he found a way to strike up a conversation with her in class. This brought them to becoming fast friends, and soon would chat often in class. I asked Shianne when her mind changed from "he's cute" to "oh man, I really like this guy" and she told me it happened when they all went out as a group. It was the first time outside of class that they got to hang out, and Rob was even more likable then. They would go on their first one on one date just a couple days later.

Fast forward to years and I get an email from Rob asking if I'd be interested in a plan he was cooking up. Turns out, this girl he met in class was pretty amazing, and he doesn't just want to date her, he wants to be with her for the rest of his life. He wants to see her and no other - he wants to marry her. So we planned a couple session where we could do "couple photos" for their two year anniversary, and somewhere in the middle, Rob would end up on one knee, holding a ring. What an awesome moment it was for me to be able to be there, to capture these two amazing people.
