The Why Series - All-Day Coverage

One of the most common things in wedding photography coverage is an hourly limit. This is pretty common and a really big focus for most photographers. And I see why! It really allows the photographer to control how much work they have on the backend. It also means less work, it’s easier on the body, and it’s much less exhausting. That said, hourly wedding coverage has some serious drawbacks, not just in the types of moments you miss, but also in the way you feel and approach your day. In this blog, I want to go over the benefits of true all-day coverage and give a couple of examples of real weddings, and what would have changed had I not been there for all day.

Jacob and Chelsea's Winter Wedding in Spokane

So technically this wasn’t Jacob and Chelsea’s wedding - they were already married - but not technically this was their wedding. This was the time they had all their friends and family show up for a big celebration of the fact they are going to be together for the rest of their lives. These two are so kind, easy to talk to, and man do I love their smiles - big, genuine, extraordinary smiles. I hope you love some of my highlights from their wedding day.

Daniel and Stacey's Glover Mansion Wedding

Daniel and Stacey are two people that I have loved getting to know. They are super smart, witty, and have such great senses of humor. I had such a great time getting to know them at their engagement session, but being able to get more context on who they are by being at their wedding, meeting their friends and family and watching them laugh and have a great time, on one of the biggest days of their lives? Amazing. The Glover Mansion was such a great setting for this Mid-January wedding, and while it was cold outside, it was warm and welcoming in the house. I love how these turned out, and I hope you do too! Big thanks to Driftwood Point Events for helping get everything going this day, always love seeing them at weddings.

Dan and Kaylene's Spokane Lake Wedding

Dan and Kaylene had an amazing wedding. Set at a very beautiful venue (a venue which is still trying to decide if they want to be well known or not) with a great view of Lake Spokane, it seemed like everything went exactly the way you’d want it to. People were all there - on time - the light was beautiful and the couple even more so. I loved meeting each of their family members, from their kids, to their kids’ families, each person I met was kind and thoughtful. This wedding was a lot of fun because of these people, but even more so because Dan and Kaylene are just great people. Look no further than their many toasts, and all the stories that came with them. Here are some of my favorites from their wedding.

Stefan & Alicia's Elk Point Wedding

Stefan and Alicia had such an incredibly memorable day. They cried, they laughed, and they had some beautiful, intimate moments - and I had the chance to be there for all of them. From their beautiful first look, to all the amazing people that gave a toast to these two - it was an absolutely special day. One thing seems to be clear from all the friends and family I met during this day - these two are so dearly loved. They have friends, lots of them, and they are so appreciated. It’s always such a great moment for me, just sitting in the back (or the front, in some cases) just listening to their stories, their laughter, and in this case, that happened a lot. I hope you love these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Marc & Amber's Engagement in Manito Park

They met 22 years ago at a conference. It was 1999, and they came together as a group of professionals, and Marc and Amber hit it off. They talked a lot over the course of the four day conference, but in the end, they would go home back to their lives. No numbers were exchanged, and because it was 1999, that also meant that's about where the potential to build on a friendship ended. They would end up seeing each other one more time a year later, and be reminded at just how well they fit - how well they got along - but again, that would end.
