They met online - which is now about 80% of the couples I meet. This isn't unusual. Instead, what is unusual is after they talked (on Bumble) for a while, decided to meet, and made all the plans, Brooke stood him up. Yeah. She never even came to their first date.
Read MoreAndrew and Madi met at work. Initially, they weren’t interested. One of them was in a relationship, and it was about being friends. This was true for a while, even after they both became single. That said, Madi had a plan, and it all came down to Andrew’s birthday. That is, she thought Andrew was a pretty great guy, so in order to get to know him better, she decided she’d get him a gift card to a coffee place for his birthday - in the hopes he’d invite her to go with him.
Read MoreThey met in college. At the time, Aubrey had a boyfriend, so Jared and her didn't really talk much. Her first thought of Jared was that he was "a little nerdy" to which Jared said was "fair" and that he was the guy that "knew Hebrew" - which Ironically he didn't know much then - although he knows much more now. Jared, for his part, didn't really notice Aubrey much - he said he purposefully kept his distance because he knew she had a boyfriend.
Read MoreThey met years ago at church. Chelsea and Jake were introduced as two people who would be "best friends" - and that was true. They became best friends, did so many things together, from Sky Diving to watching movies. But they weren't together. In fact, they were "just friends" (in a very real sense) for years. Jake told me that it was several years in, after some complications in his life he started seeing Chelsea as more than a friend. He noticed how kind she was, how thoughtful, and how she treated his boys. But, because she was his best friend, he decided to not pursue it. This was true for over a year. Then one day, Chelsea realized that she loved Jake. It wasn't that he was just a friend, he was more than that to her.
Read MoreThey met in elementary school. They weren't really friends, even though they went to a small school (think class sizes of 45, instead of 400). So they knew each other existed, but never talked. This was true until around Olivia's 7th grade year, when Matt started noticing her, and he decided to try and pursue her - something his cousin had been doing very unsuccessfully for a while. He would get her number, and they would start to talk. It wasn't a long time (but also notably, not a short time) before they would start to like each other.
Read MoreJordan is someone i’ve known a long time. He’s my nephew after all. I’m not 100% sure how old he was when we first met, but my guess is around seven. So being able to watch him grow up, go through high school, find a girlfriend and then get married?! Pretty darn amazing. The girl he’s found, Kailee, has also been quite the blessing. She is always ready to be part of family events and is quick to laugh and have fun. Watching them grow closer (I distinctly remember meeting her while doing Jordan’s senior photos) has been huge for me. I’m excited to be able to share their engagement photos, which are technically not engagement photos (as they are already married!) but hey, who’s counting. I hope you love them!
