Photographing engagements is always fun because I get the chance to get to know a couple, get to know who they are, and what makes them “them”. Aimee and Tina met at Starbucks when Tina had moved out to Seattle to pursue job opportunities. Tina went right up to Aimee and said "let's be friends" - so they were. Over the course of months they became good friends, hanging out, drinking beer, talking and doing things friends do. Aimee told me that it was about 6 months in that she began to realize she was attracted to Tina. I asked her if she pursued her, or not, and she looked at me like "well, I did, but I didn't" if that makes any sense. I think what should be understood here is that Aimee was interested, but she wasn't going to try and force anything.
Read MoreThey met in first grade. Now, I think it would be easy to build out a story around this fact, perhaps saying they were best friends all through school, talked all the time and eventually, sometime in high school these two amazing people decided they wanted to be together, and then, in college, decided they wanted to be together forever.
Read MoreI met Tony way back in 7th grade. It's pretty crazy to think about, but this year I'll be photographing two friends from that time in my life. It's amazing to think about how far we have come, how much life has changed, how lucky we are. And Tony definitely lands in that category, as his fiance Stephanie is amazing. She's kind, energetic, and well spoken. They work so well together.

That is to say, you’re standing in line for coffee, and you want to talk to the cute girl in line behind you, but you don’t really know a great way to do it. Furthermore, if you DO talk to that beautiful woman, what do you say, and how do you make yourself seem kind, generous, and genuine? So what do most guys do? They just don’t do anything.
Read MoreTaylor loved going to Capones. Good food, good beer, friendly service. But one day when he arrived he found out that the beer he liked to drink the most (I'm guessing, but I THINK it was a Coors light in a bottle) they no longer carried, so he had to drink it from a can, or something like that. The drink isn't that important, it's the fact that it wasn't the normal thing. Lynsie, who was a server at Capones at the time noticed he was drinking something different. Now, she wasn't working at the time, rather she was just hanging out and getting some drinks with her friend Zach at the time, but she noticed anyway. The cute guy wasn't drinking his normal drink.
