Downtown Spokane Engagement: Taylor & Jenna

They met when Taylor connected with Jenna's roommate on a dating app. They were messaging back and forth, and eventually he was invited over - they lived close by after all. Well, it turns out that Jenna is a pretty colorful person, as that was Taylor's first impression of her. He said he remembered her coming into the room as they were all talking and the whole place lit up - "it went up about 30 octaves" is what Jenna said. This doesn't surprise me, as the time I've spent with her she has been so much fun to be with, talk with, and it doesn't surprise me that Taylor would describe it this way.

North Idaho Winter Engagement: Trevor & Jackie

Trevor and Jackie hold a special place in my heart, because it was at a wedding I photographed (shout out to the amazing Nick and Brianna!) that they met. A couple years ago I photographed a wedding in Mexico for Nick and Brianna Shriner, and while I was there I met the very kind bridesmaid named Jackie, and the quite (at least, to me) but kind groomsman Trevor. That was it, that was my experience. What I didn't know was that just before the wedding the bridemaids were telling Jackie all about the "cute single groomsman" named Trevor, and how because they were all taken, she would have to go for him.

Engagement Photos in Leavenworth, WA: Dylan & Sam

Dylan and Sam met at a super bowl party. It was the one a couple years ago when the Patriots went down to the Falcons some 27-3 at halftime, then came back to win it in the second half. The one that saw half a house talking mad trash followed by complete silence the second half as they ate their own words - yeah that one. Anyway, Sam remembers it because Dylan walked in rocking a bunch of Pats stuff, and he was the only one. Dylan noticed her too, she was beautiful and super easy to talk to - they felt like old friends right away. She would make fun of him (the Pats were losing after all) and he would go along with the jokes and bring back some of his own.

Engagement Photos in North Idaho: Robert & Nicole

Robert and Nicole met in high school. They even had a couple classes together. Now what often happens when I hear stories of couples that met in high school, either that couple dated, were good friends or somewhere in between. In this case, they never talked. They existed in the same space, but they both were "socially awkward" is the way I think they put it to me.

Kootenai Falls Engagement: Tyler & Kassandra

They met at the gym. Tyler is a trainer (an excellent one at that) and if I remember right she had joined his gym and he was giving some instruction. He had asked for someone to be an example, and no one volunteered - except Kassandra. This was how they met, but it took time for them to grow a friendship - always at the gym. They would talk together, joke around, often stretching or doing certain things around the same time. They became friends. Over the course of time, each one of them would get out of their respective relationships and one day Kassandra was lamenting about wanting to go on a hike, and Tyler said "well, let's go" So they did.

Spokane Engagement Photos: Gabe & Mary

They met at a restaurant, where Mary was the server and Gabe was the patron. Gabe said the first thing he noticed was her eyes (which isn't surprising when you see Mary's eyes) but then the second thing he noticed was her name. You see, for the last 6 generations or so everyone in Gabe's family has married a Mary - and in that moment Gabe was looking at a kind, absolutely beautiful, woman with the name of Mary and he thought "why not? Crazier things have happened." - So he flirted. Mary, for her part remembers him being "really cute" but nothing crazy really happened that night. However, Mary happened to be a mutual friend of one of his friends so he found her on Facebook, added her and sent her a message. She was kind enough to reply, but "wasn't looking for a relationship at the time" so after a couple mssages she ghosted him (aka, stopped replying).
